This is the main folder for the distribution of Mathematica Software that goes with Roman Maeder, Programming in Mathematica, Addison-Wesley, 1990, ISBN 0-201-51002-2Appendix B of this book contains an index of all these packages.
There are two standard places to unpack this distribution:
Either put the three folders "RMPackages", "Examples", and "Utilities" into
"~/Library/Mathematica/Packages" or into "/LocalLibrary/Mathematica/Packages".
Both of these directories are on the default Mathematica search path.

Both of these directories are on the default Mathematica search path.
The "RMPackages" folder contains major packages developed in the book. The "Utilities" folder contains smaller programs that are used inside some of the packages or that you can import into your own packages.
To look at one of the Notebooks, simply double click on it. Besides the package code, most of them also contain examples of their use. Some of these files need others that they read in with the command Needs[]. Mathematica only finds these files if the parent directory is on the search path!

The "Examples" folder contains some more examples from the book. In order to fit everything on one floppy, the examples have not been precomputed. To compute them, simply evaluate the input cells. In all cases, you should evaluate the initialization cells before attempting any of the examples.
The text of the files is not a verbatim copy of the packages reproduced in the book. They have been edited for system dependencies and maybe a last minute bug or two. Package contexts are now generally of the form "RMPackages`Package`" or "Utilities`Package`".
This collection is copyright 1989 by Roman Maeder, see the separate copyright notice. The individual programs carry copyright notices too, which govern the copying of individual files from this collection.
Macintosh and MS-DOS versions of this collection are available from Wolfram Research, Inc. PO Box 6059 Champaign, IL 61826 Phone (217) 398-0700.and will also appear on many bulletin boards and with distributors of free software. Wolfram Research will however not answer any questions about this software!
A machine-independent version (without frontend support) is available through the Mathematica User Group archive. The archive server is ftp.ncsa.uiuc.edu (128.174.20.50). This collection might also be available on local archives, so check there first. It is freely redistributable, except for profit.
Enjoy,
